Our Mission Statement

At Surf for Lives, we are dedicated to empowering young, underprivileged children from poverty-stricken areas in KwaZulu-Natal through the transformative power of surfing. By harnessing the lessons of the ocean, we aim to instill valuable life skills and inspire personal growth. Our mission is to provide these children with opportunities that transcend their current circumstances, equipping them with the confidence and resilience needed to navigate life’s challenges and seize future opportunities. At the same time, we are committed to fostering a deep respect for the ocean and its ecosystems, teaching the importance of marine conservation as part of their journey. Through surfing, education, and environmental stewardship, we believe in unlocking potential and creating a wave of positive change in both our community and our seas.

Our History
Surf For Lives began with a simple idea — that the ocean has the power to heal, connect, and inspire change. What started as a small group of ocean lovers supporting local surfers has grown into a movement that uses surfing as a force for good. From coastal clean-ups to community surf programs and environmental education, we’ve built our journey around one belief: when we care for our oceans, we care for each other.

Our Community
Our community is made up of everyday heroes — surfers, families, students, and ocean lovers who believe in creating a better future through action. Whether it’s teaching kids to surf, protecting our beaches, or supporting young athletes with purpose, we stand together as a family connected by the sea. Our Charity
Surf For Lives is a registered Non-Profit Company (NPC Reg No: 2024/362731/08) and Public Benefit Organisation (PBO No: 930086469) and we are Section 18A approval.
Our mission is to empower communities through surfing, education, and environmental awareness. Every contribution goes directly toward youth development, ocean conservation, and providing equipment and opportunities for those who need it most. We believe in transparency, impact, and the simple truth that every wave can make a difference.
